Description
Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - construction - magnolia regional health center is a 200 licensed bed community hospital located in corinth, mississippi, owned by the city of corinth, mississippi and alcorn county, mississippi. Our hospital has been in existence since 1965 when the local community hospital and the corinth hospital merged into one facility for the betterment of the health of the local residents. In 2006-2007 magnolia regional health center underwent an expansion and upgrade project to provide a more modern facility for our patients and families. At that time, the original patient tower was 40 years old and our operative services included 5 operating rooms, 1 cysto room and 2 endo rooms. This project allowed for the addition of 2 new operating rooms. This area has not been renovated or upgraded since that time. The facilities and equipment in our operative services department is old and no longer meets the demands of modern medical procedures. The equipment referred to includes outdated surgical instruments, imaging devices, and monitoring systems. In addition, the sterile processing department is currently located 1 floor down from the operating room suite and is in need of relocation to an area adjacent to the operating rooms. The equipment in the sterile processing department is also obsolete, which hampers our ability to efficiently sterilize and process surgical instruments. This includes aging autoclaves, washers, and sterilization systems. We aim to renovate and upgrade a portion of the current operating room suite to create 4 new, large operating rooms as well as renovate and upgrade a procedure room, a procedure/cysto room and endo suite. We will relocate and upgrade the sterile processing department from the basement of the main facility to the first floor to an area that is adjacent to the main operating room suite. This area will include a central sterile processing area, storage area, vendor pickup/breakdown area, cart wash station and decontamination. In addit ION to the renovation and construction, we intend to upgrade the current outdated surgical instruments, imaging devices and monitoring systems in the operating room suite with new, modern equipment and upgrade the current outdated sterile processing department equipment with new modern autoclaves, washers, and sterilization systems. These improvements will enhance the precision and efficiency of surgeries, reduce the risk of complications, and improve patient outcomes as well as ensure that all surgical instruments are thoroughly sterilized and processed, reducing the risk of infections and improving overall patient safety. By securing this funding, we can significantly enhance the quality of care we provide, reduce surgical risks, and ensure a safe and sterile environment for all patients. Upgrading our facilities will not only benefit our current patient population but also position US to meet future healthcare demands effectively. The overall project will cost from approximately $11,500,000 to $11,750,000.
