COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING - CONSTRUCTION - IN A CLIMATE OF NURSING SHORTAGES, THE PROJECT SEEKS TO MEET THE INCREASED DEMAND FOR NURSES IN OUR COMMUNITY BY EXPANDING THE SCHOOL OF NURSING PROGRAM TO RECRUIT ADDITIONAL NURSING STUDENTS FROM 200 TODAY TO 400 IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS. THE REQUESTED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WILL REASONABLY SUPPORT OUR NURSING FACULTY IN THE NEWLY EXPANDED CENTER FOR NURSING, SIMULATION, AND TRAINING BUILDING LOCATED AT THE SCHOOL OF NURSING. CUMBERLAND RENOVATED THIS STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY THAT WILL NOW OFFER THREE ADDITIONAL LABS AND ONE MORE CLASSROOM THAT WILL ALLOW MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SIMULATING SITUATIONS THAT NURSES WILL FACE IN A SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. THE CPF/CDS FUNDING REQUEST OF $750,000 FOR ALLOWABLE, REASONABLE AND MOVABLE EQUIPMENT WOULD PROVIDE THE NURSING FACULTY THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE OUR NURSING STUDENTS SIMULATION LABS AND EXERCISES TO DEVELOP EVIDENCE-BASED CLINICAL JUDGMENT IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. THIS TRAINING WILL ENSURE THAT WE CONTINUE TO GRADUATE NURSES THAT WILL MAINTAIN EXCELLENCE IN THEIR NURSING PRACTICE.
