Description

Like most rural critical access hospitals, whidbeyhealth operates on very narrow margins with limited resources to update both equipment and capital facilities. Funding will be utilized to renovate the current diagnostic imaging space to provide new MRI and CT scan equipment. These renovations will support critical equipment needed to diagnose inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients. Without these improvements, island residents will be forced to travel off-island (a nearly five-hour round trip drive) to receive diagnostic imaging services. As the only hospital on whidbey island, the services whidbeyhealth provide to local residents both for emergent needs and maintenance of wellness are critical to the coupeville and whidbey island community. This initiative will have broad community impact by delivering significantly improved healthcare to all residents on whidbey island.
