IN ADDITION TO ALIGNING WITH CDS COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING, IT IS ALSO ALIGNED WITH THE 2019 INGHAM COUNTY (MI) HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN FOR INGHAM, EATON, AND CLINTON COUNTIES, INCLUDING IMPROVING ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE AND ACHIEVING HEALTH EQUITY. THE VEHICLE WILL ALLOW US TO OFFER IN-PERSON, INTERACTIVE, CUSTOMIZED HEALTH EDUCATION AND AWARENESS ACTIVITIES TO THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, THROUGHOUT THE COLLEGE'S FIVE-COUNTY GEOGRAPHIC AREA. THE PROJECT WILL OPERATE WITHIN THE COLLEGE'S SERVICE AREA OF INGHAM, EATON, CLINTON, SHIAWASSEE, AND LIVINGSTON COUNTIES, WHICH INCLUDE URBAN, SUBURBAN, AND RURAL AREAS. DEMOGRAPHIC, INCOME, AND EDUCATION LEVELS VARY SIGNIFICANTLY AMONG AND WITHIN COUNTIES; THEREFORE THE MOBILE HEALTH EDUCATION VEHICLE PROJECT WILL BE DESIGNED TO MEET THE HEALTH-RELATED INTERESTS AND NEEDS OF A VARIETY OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROJECT WILL: 1) ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING HEALTH EDUCATION AND BUILDING AWARENESS OF LCC'S PROGRAMS AND ACADEMIC RESOURCES; 2) CREATE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LCC STUDENTS, WITH AN INCREASED FOCUS ON UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS; 3) INCREASE COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS; 5) CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FACULTY AND STUDENTS TO PROVID E PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS INFORMATION; 4) PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO INCREASE COMMUNICATION AND ASSESSMENT SKILLS WITHIN DIVERSE COMMUNITIES; 5) DEVELOP INNOVATIVE WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIPS TO MEET PATIENT CARE NEEDS; 6) PROVIDE MOBILE CONTINUING EDUCATION TRAINING WITHIN HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROFESSIONS; AND 7) COLLABORATE WITH CONSORTIUM PARTNERS TO ESTABLISH ACADEMIC PROGRAM SKILL ASSESSMENTS. WE ANTICIPATE VEHICLE CONSTRUCTION WILL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 12 TO18 MONTHS AFTER RECEIVING CDS FUNDS. VEHICLE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION WILL BE MANAGED BY FARBER SPECIALTY VEHICLES, COLUMBUS, OHIO, WHO HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE DESIGNING AND PRODUCING CUSTOM BUILT SPECIALTY VEHICLES FOR A VARIETY OF BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRIES, INCLUDING COMMUNITY HEALTH.
