Description
Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - construction - medstar southern maryland hospital center 7503 surratts road clinton, MD 20735 medstarhealth.ORG medstar southern maryland hospital center is planning to expand, redesign, and modernize its behavioral health inpatient unit to address the therapeutic and safety needs of the patients and staff. This proposed project addresses critical space needs, enhances patient safety and privacy, modernizes the unit, creates significant efficiencies, improves operational flow, and features a more therapeutic and residential design. The project is an outgrowth of comprehensive master facility planning that has taken place since medstar health acquired the hospital in december 2012, which transformed the hospital from a for profit to a nonprofit hospital. The renovation will provide a safe environment for staff and patients and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance. The inpatient unit is designed for patients 18 years and older with acute psychiatric symptoms who may present a danger to themselves or others and who require 24-hour care. The program focuses on an individualized patient-tailored recovery care plan that may include individual and group therapies, group activities, medication management and education.
