THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 1. RELOCATE THE GROUND LEVEL HELIPAD TO THE ROOFTOP ABOVE THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT SO THAT THE HELIPAD IS IN CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. THE RELOCATION OF THE HELIPAD WILL ALLOW FOR SAFER PATIENT TRANSFER FROM THE HELICOPTER TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND MITIGATE LANDING RISK FOR AIRCRAFT AS ROOFTOP HELIPADS ARE FOUND TO BE MORE SECURE AND SAFER. 2. SECURE THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FOR PATIENT AND STAFF SAFETY. SECURING THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT WILL LIMIT DEPARTMENT ACCESS TO ONLY EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT PATIENTS AS WELL AS KEEP SICK PATIENTS AWAY FROM HEALTHY PATIENTS. THIS IMPROVEMENT WILL ENSURE PATIENTS UTILIZING THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT HAVE AMPLE ACCESS TO AVAILABLE PARKING CLOSEST TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. 3. FACILITY MODIFICATIONS. AS A RESULT OF THE RELOCATION OF THE HELIPAD AND SECURING THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT THERE WILL BE MODIFICATIONS TO THE FACILITY TO INCLUDE FLOORING AND WORKSPACE WITHIN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND SURROUNDING INTERIOR SPACE. AFTER RELOCATING THE HELIPAD TO THE ROOF, THE CURRENT HELIPAD WILL BE REGRADED TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL PATIENT AND VISITOR PARKING AND ADA ACCESS TO THE HOSPITAL.
