Description

The red wing campus of minnesota state college southeast (mscse) is located at 308 pioneer road, red wing, MN 55066. Mscse is requesting $825,0000 of congressional direct spending for design, equipment purchase, technology, and construction renovation to improve 2,000 square feet of existing space on campus for educating health care professionals. The project space would mimic a hospital wing and include private patient rooms, a medication room, a nursing station, a control room, simulation rooms and debriefing rooms. Critical scopes of work to make this vision a reality include, but are not limited to the following list of improvements: - reconfigure areas to comply with ADA requirements - facilitate and upgrade AV technology, power and data - improve acoustics in the spaces with walls to the deck so classroom/labs are usable. Replace and/or soundproof existing partition walls to allow for multiple classes to be held at the same time without disrupting others. - improve ventilation separation for air quality concerns - create simulation lab/center that will mimic a hospital the college is committed to increasing academic programming to contribute to filling the health care profession workforce needs of the SE region of minnesota, including having simulation lab experience to augment traditional classroom and skills lab training hours. Healthcare employers throughout our region continue to rely on our college to graduate highly qualified nurses and other health care professionals. The creation of a simulation/lab center on the campus will serve a number of important constituents including the people of minnesota's 2ND district and have a strong impact in a time when well-trained health care professionals has risen to critical importance.
