AT FULL CAPACITY, THE EXISTING FLEET OF CARE VANS CAN SERVICE OVER 60 PATIENTS PER DAY. THE EXISTING PROGRAM OFFERS SERVICES TO THE HOSPITAL'S MAIN CAMPUS FROM THE HOSPITAL'S PRIMARY SERVICE AREA. THE CARE VAN PROGRAM IS DESIGNATED FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION; HAVE NO OTHER REGULAR, RELIABLE, AND APPROPRIATE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, EITHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE (SUCH AS BUS, FAMILY MEMBERS, OR FRIENDS), AND; DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE THAT WILL PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES SUCH AS THE VA, MEDICARE, MEDICAID, TRIPLINK, NOR QUALIFY FOR ANY OTHER TRANSPORTATION SERVICE. GIVEN THE CONTINUED COMMUNITY NEED FOR ACCESS TO CARE AND OUR GROWING FOOTPRINT, WENTWORTH-DOUGLASS HOSPITAL WILL USE FEDERAL FUNDS AWARDED VIA CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING TO EXPAND THE CARE VAN PROGRAM TO SERVICE PATIENTS WITHIN 25 MILES OF OFFSITE LOCATIONS. SPECIFICALLY THE FUNDING WILL BE USED TO PURCHASE THREE ADDITIONAL CARE VANS, A COMPREHENSIVE SCHEDULING SOFTWARE, HIRE THREE FTE DRIVERS, AND ONE FTE DISPATCHER.
