Description

Current prices often do not reflect the true cost of production and the quality of products often do not meet market expectations. Our grantee house of indigenous arts belize (hiab) is expanding economic opportunity for artisans by training and equipping them in enterprise development techniques to improve quality and standardize products and to develop new products for specific markets. Hiab will help artisans obtain fair prices, centralize purchase orders, and bypass intermediaries to increase their profits and incomes. Hiab will strengthen its management through drafting business and strategic plans. This grant advances the IAF's strategic initiative to promote the economic and social inclusion and human rights of historically marginalized populations and is also part of the IAF's women investing in growth and security (wings) initiative to empower women as business and community leaders.
