Description

Many sell livestock prematurely, purchase feed to supplement pasture grasses, or clear land for more pasture, all of which are economically and environmentally unsustainable. Our grantee belize livestock producers' association (blpa) is expanding economic opportunity by improving small-scale livestock farmers' adaptability and resiliency to changing environmental conditions. Blpa is increasing farmers' incomes by training and equipping them in techniques to get more benefits from their pastures, increase their options for deciding the timing of livestock sales, and decrease their need to purchase feed. This grant advances the IAF's strategic initiative to promote sustainable agriculture, strengthen food security efforts, and support viable livelihoods.
