This $135,482 Project Grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) under the Promotion of the Humanities Teaching and Learning Resources and Curriculum Development program (CFDA 45.162) will support Wittenberg University's initiative called "The Healing Humanities: Creating Healthy Pathways on Campus and in the Community." The project aims to 1) strengthen humanities teaching and learning at the university, 2) highlight the importance of humanistic inquiry in critical community efforts, and 3) connect students to robust experiential learning activities related to health humanities. Key objectives include establishing a health humanities faculty fellowship, developing new curricula through faculty professional development, creating a community advisory group, and increasing visibility and learning in health humanities for the local community through workshops. This 3-year grant, awarded on March 1, 2024, will enable Wittenberg University to expand access to humanities-based teaching and learning that empowers both students and community members with the skills to understand and positively impact the health and life of the local community in ethical and equitable ways.
