THIS COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AND OFFICE OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHALL WILL PROVIDE FUNDING OF ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE CONDUCTING THE ADMINISTRATION OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS SITES WITHIN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS. THIS AGREEMENT WILL IMPROVE COMPLIANCE THROUGH ACTIVE INSPECTIONS, MAINTAIN AN ONGOING TANK NOTIFICATION PROGRAM, AND DEVELOP STATE AUTHORITIES AND PROCEDURES FOR AN ADEQUATE ENFORCEMENT AND COMPLIANCE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
