The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $500,000 Project Grant under the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program (CFDA 66.306) to the Council for Watershed Health (CWH). The grant funding will support CWH and seven sub-awardees, including six community-based organizations (CBOs) and one tribal partner, in expanding the capacity of the ReDesign LA program. Through this initiative, the sub-awardees will mentor seven new mentees working in underserved communities across the Greater Los Angeles region. The mentees will be guided through a community needs assessment, community engagement project identification, partnership development, and funding application processes. The goal is to enable the mentees to develop and implement community-led green infrastructure and climate resilience projects that address environmental and public health challenges, such as reducing localized flooding, increasing stormwater capture, improving water quality, and expanding green spaces. The award period runs from December 1, 2024 to November 30, 2027.
