About this award

The Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 awarded the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District (NTCD) a $125,000 Project Grant under the Surveys, Studies, Investigations, Demonstrations, and Training Grants and Cooperative Agreements - Section 104(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act program (CFDA 66.436). The grant will support NTCD's development of a community-based watershed strategy and outreach efforts in the Marla Bay area of Lake Tahoe to improve water quality and help achieve the Total Maximum Daily Load requirements.

Specifically, NTCD will work with local partners to plan stormwater treatments, encourage private landowner stewardship, and prevent invasive species. Deliverables include a watershed plan prioritizing restoration opportunities, four stakeholder meetings, technical assistance to private property owners, 50% design plans for public road stormwater treatments, and collaboration on a highway project. The project aims to increase lake clarity and achieve potential load reductions to help Douglas County meet environmental standards. No subawards are included in the funding.
