THE AGREEMENT ASSISTS THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT IMPROVEMENT INVESTMENTS THROUGH PROJECTS THAT WILL REDUCE LEAD EXPOSURE IN DRINKING WATER BY REMOVING POTENTIAL SOURCES OF LEAD IN HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS AND CHILDCARE FACILITIES. THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ALONG WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WILL IMPLEMENT A LEAD REMEDIATION PROGRAM THAT WILL REMOVE AND REPLACE LEAD-CONTAINING DRINKING WATER FIXTURES, FOUNTAINS, OUTLETS, AND PLUMBING MATERIALS. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THESE PROJECTS ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA.
