Description

This project will have three phases: phase one resident recruitment and pre-survey. A community connector will be responsible for assessing resident interest in having a raised bed garden installed at their home, as well as the comfort level with gardening, and current fruit and vegetable consumption habits. The community connector will recommend residents to participate in the garden program. Phase two garden development and installation. A master gardener and landscape planner will develop the raised bed garden plans, seed, soil, and equipment needed to install both the residential boxes and the demonstration garden. This lead will also lead the actual build. Phase three education and evaluation. In collaboration with local partners, we will develop lessons, how to guide, and through season learning opportunities for residents in the superfund site area. Materials will be available online. We will host in-person demos, harvest showcases and other engagement activities if IT is safe to do so. This phase will also include some evaluation towards the end of the first season.
