- This federal Cooperative Agreement award, valued at $2,133,194.00 and granted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (CFDA 81.087 - Renewable Energy Research and Development), investigates three dimensions of fairness in large-scale solar (LSS) projects: engagement, influence, and benefits. The project examines when, how, and who is engaged, the extent of participatory and deliberative engagement, whether host community-members' attitudes and...
- The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) awarded a $3,750,000 Cooperative Agreement under the Renewable Energy Research and Development Federal Grant Program (CFDA 81.087) to the Solar & Storage Industries Institute. This project will support the "Uncommon Dialogue" in developing consensus-based solutions around large-scale solar (LSS) siting, with the potential to speed up LSS project permitting, reduce soft costs associated with...
- This Cooperative Agreement award, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under the Renewable Energy Research and Development program (CFDA 81.087), will investigate approaches to Community Benefit Mechanisms (CBMs) that could improve community acceptance of large-scale solar energy projects in the United States. The $2,485,114 award to Princeton University, with a project period from January 1, 2025 to October 2, 2025, aims to identify CBM...
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. (NACHC) a $57,007,365 Cooperative Agreement under the DOE's Clean Energy Demonstrations program (CFDA 81.255) on January 1, 2025. The purpose of this award is to provide power generation capabilities, such as solar+storage microgrid systems, to rural or remote community health centers (CHCs) to serve as backup power during grid outages and/or to reduce the CHCs' energy consumption from the...
- The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $1,491,400 Cooperative Agreement to The Corps Network under the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Information Dissemination, Outreach, Training and Technical Analysis/Assistance program (CFDA 81.117). This funding will assist four conservation corps in establishing or expanding solar and renewable energy workforce development programs and related projects that benefit members of disadvantaged communities within their service areas. The project aims...
- This federal Cooperative Agreement award, funded by the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under the Conservation Research and Development (CFDA 81.086) program, will support a comprehensive assessment of the technical, social, and governance feasibility of establishing a community alliance for direct air capture in California. The total funding amount is $3,685,904.00, with a performance period of August 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025. The prime awardee, the...
- This $4,800,000 Cooperative Agreement, awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under the Renewable Energy Research and Development program (CFDA 81.087), is intended to demonstrate daily and long-duration thermal energy storage for concentrating solar thermal (CST) applications using geological thermal energy storage (GEOTES) technology. The key objectives are to: 1) Install a >100 kWe demonstration power plant with >12 hours of storage...
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $54,811,907 Cooperative Agreement to the North West Arctic Borough under the Clean Energy Demonstrations program (CFDA 81.255). This award, with a performance period from November 2024 to December 2027, will fund the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and residential heat pump installations across eleven villages in the Northwest Arctic Borough region of Alaska. The goal is to increase the...
- This $15,000,000 Cooperative Agreement awarded by the Bureau of Reclamation under the SECURE Water Act - Research Agreements (CFDA 15.560) program supports a 5-year pilot project to assess the viability of installing solar panels over canals. The primary objectives are to reduce water evaporation, generate renewable energy, and build resilience to climate change by reducing carbon emissions associated with electricity generation. Key benefits may include increased water conservation during...
