Description

Activities:the specific objectives are to 1) optimize the selectivity and sensitivity of the janus gold nanorod (aujnr)-based colorimetric sensors for lead analysis in TAP water, 2) quantify the influence of TAP water matrices on lead sensor performance, and 3) unveil patterns of lead pollution with affected communities via citizen science.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:deliverables include annual and final reports. The results of this project will result in uniquely engineered sensors, featuring a janus-like structure and selective quenching of longitudinal localized surface plasmon resonance, demonstrate superior stability and sensitivity in TAP water matrices compared to previous plasmonic colorimetric sensors and determine the impact of various TAP water matrices on sensor performance. Direct beneficiaries of this project include will be communities and individuals affected by lead-contaminated drinking water, including households and children in milwaukee, WI, human health, the environment and the general public.
