Description
The primary objectives of the project are to conduct scientific gatherings of researchers, students, policy practitioners, and other interested parties, which will accomplish the following goals: - provide a mechanism for discussing current issues and state-of-the-art methods and applications in environmental and natural resource economics research. - identify research needs for advancing sound ideas and new approaches in environmental and natural resource policy analysis. - enhance opportunities for collaborative efforts by bringing together researchers and policy practitioners from around the world working on similar problems and sharing national experiences with environmental and natural resource problems and policies. - encourage scholarship by young professionals. The aere summer conference offers young professionals constructive comments at early stages of their work opportunities to learn about professional service from interactions with aere and greater connections with the broader research community. Activities:the recipient organizes and hosts the association of environmental and resource economics (aere) summer conferences, organized by the aere members responsible for hosting the conferences (the 'organizing committee'), in conjunction with members of the aere board of directors and aere headquarters staff (the 'advisory committee'). Together, these groups are responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the conference, including but not limited to selecting the location, establishing a review panel to select papers for presentation, organizing the academic program, and planning social events. In organizing the conferences, aere works to ensure top researchers are able to attend and participate in sponsored sessions on priority environmental economic subjects. The resources provided under this assistance agreement are primarily to enable aere to offer stipends to researchers to travel and make presentations at sponsored sessions examining these priority topics, as well as providing financial support for thought leaders in the environmental economics field to prepare and deliver keynote addresses at the conferences. Some funds also are also used to assist in promoting the conference, collecting and organizing material received from researchers submitting material for consideration to be included for presentation at the conference, and for the services of communication equipment providers used at the conference.subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:the conferences provide important forums for researchers, government analysts, students, policy experts, and other professionals to exchange research findings and ideas; to apply, evaluate and further develop research methodologies; and to maintain and develop collaboration and partnerships. These events will also contribute to many publications directly addressing topics important to ncee and will stimulate interest in resource and environmental topics within the academic and policy community.
