Description

The purpose of this ARP funded grant is to fund the otoe-missouria rescue plan project, which includes determining the existing knowledge and beliefs about the four main subjects being covered in this project, air quality (ambient, indoor and healthy homes), climate change, safe drinking water, disaster resiliency and preparedness. The tribe would also like to incorporate any traditional / indigenous knowledge that might be gained from community members in these modules. Input from the OM historical preservation department could be a resource for this type of knowledge. Activities:otoe-missouria environmental department (omed) staff will design and create brochures, emails, social media, and newsletter articles to inform the community about this project and the upcoming educational modules. Omed will use these forms of media to gather interested parties for the project then distribute to those who wish to participate. Subrecipient:no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.outcomes:using the input from participants and the project partners, omed will begin developing four educational modules including working with the specific project partners to either gain input or plan the timing and details of the presentation. Each module will contain training and demonstration materials and tools specific to each topic. These materials will be distributed at the time of the module. If the topic cannot be adequately covered in one module the presenter may OPT for an additional session to further discuss the topic. Progress on this project will be reported to the otoe-missouria environmental coordinator and to the region 8 EPA project officer in quarterly status reports. In the fourth quarter of the project, the modules will be completed. An exit process will be developed and completed by participants to help determine the success of the project. A final report will be submitted to the EPA. Direct beneficiaries of this project include otoe-missouria tribal and surrounding community members.
