Icrisat research on impact of different agricultural technologies on soil fertility and crop yields

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) received a $500,000 Project Grant award from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Zimbabwe office under the USAID Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) program. The funding supports ICRISAT's research on the impact of different agricultural technologies on soil fertility and crop yields in Zimbabwe over a 2-year period from July 2023 to July 2025. As part of this project, ICRISAT is also evaluating the effectiveness of mobile kraals on soil fertility improvement and crop productivity in Zimbabwe under a separate $226,907 USAID contract. Additionally, ICRISAT conducts agricultural research and development work in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa through other federal grant awards, including a $2.5 million USAID West Africa Regional Program cooperative agreement focused on increasing the application of geospatial technologies for resource management and climate resilience.
