This Project Grant award, provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration under the Veterans Transportation Program (CFDA 64.035), will fund $800,000.00 in innovative transportation services to assist veterans in highly rural areas of Montana access VA medical centers and other healthcare facilities. The grant recipient, American Legion Rocky Boy Veterans Post 67, will utilize the funding over a one-year period from September 15, 2023 to September 14, 2024 to establish and maintain critical transportation networks, including vehicle services, mileage reimbursement, and public transit coordination. This will enable veterans residing in remote regions of Montana to travel to VA medical appointments and receive necessary medical care. The Veterans Transportation Program aims to address transportation barriers faced by veterans in highly rural areas, aligning with the VA's mission to provide accessible healthcare services to this veteran population.

This program's purpose is to provide grants to eligible recipients to assist veterans in highly rural areas through innovative transportation services to travel to VA medical centers, and to other VA and non-VA facilities to assist in providing transportation services in connection with the provision of VA medical care.
