Safety action plan presents for springettsbury township under the safe streets and roads for all (SS4A) program

Springettsbury Township received a $141,400 Project Grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program (CFDA 20.939), awarded on September 9, 2025, with a completion deadline of September 9, 2028. This funding supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive Safety Action Plan designed to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries within the township. The township will utilize grant funds to conduct planning and design activities, perform data analysis, engage stakeholders, and identify targeted infrastructure and behavioral safety strategies that benefit all road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists.

As a planning-phase award under the SS4A program, Springettsbury Township's grant encompasses the foundational work required to establish a data-driven, community-informed roadway safety initiative. The three-year project period allows the township to systematically assess safety challenges, solicit public input, and develop actionable recommendations that can guide future infrastructure improvements and safety interventions. This planning grant positions the township to compete for subsequent implementation funding to execute the safety strategies identified in its comprehensive action plan.
