About this award

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) awarded $2,875,000 to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) on September 2, 2025, under the Highway Planning and Construction program (CFDA 20.205) to reconstruct 1.4 miles of West Las Positas Boulevard between Hopyard Road and the Iron Horse Trail in California. This project represents the first phase of a larger planned 3.8-mile corridor reconstruction effort and is scheduled for completion by May 8, 2027.

The funded project will deliver comprehensive multimodal transportation infrastructure improvements, including reconstruction of the existing six-lane roadway to a four-lane configuration with expanded pedestrian pathways, elevated cycle tracks, landscaped buffers, intersection safety improvements, new parking accommodations, and a stabilized roadway subbase. These improvements align with the FHWA's emphasis on sustainable transportation development and multimodal connectivity enhancements, addressing both safety and accessibility objectives along the corridor while replacing degraded infrastructure.
