- Activities
- University of maryland will host a training workshop to educate industry, academic, and national lab scientists in data science and machine learning methods and tools. The training workshop will consist of a 4-day tutorial and 1-day presentations on current methods. The workshop will be held at the university of maryland, college park.
- Expected outcomes
- The technologies taught during this workshop can be applied to any number of materials systems with dramatic social and technical implications. Materials can be designed and discovered to improve the energy efficiency of the electronics, make lighter weight automobiles (which are more fuel efficient), faster computer chips, quantum devices with novel properties, more resilient armor, impact protection, etc. The list is nearly endless, and these techniques are poised to usher in a revolution in materials innovation. In prior years there has been significant industrial participation, and we expect this year will be no different.
