PURPOSE: THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE THE TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES OF STAFF FROM NATIONAL METROLOGY INSTITUTES, WHICH WILL STRENGTHEN THE PROCESSES THAT PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL ACCEPTANCE OF CALIBRATION AND MEASUREMENT CAPABILITIES BETWEEN COUNTRIES. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: THE RECIPIENT WILL ORGANIZE AND IMPLEMENT A TRAINING EVENT FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE SISTEMA INTERAMERICANO DE METROLOGIA, THE REGIONAL METROLOGY ORGANIZATION OF THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE. THIS TRAINING EVENT WILL INCLUDE TECHNICAL LECTURES, DEMONSTRATIONS, TOURS, AND HANDS-ON LEARNING MODULES. THIS TRAINING WILL HELP EARLY CAREER METROLOGISTS FROM NATIONAL METROLOGY INSTITUTES GAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT METHODS, INSTRUMENTATION, AND HOW TO IMPROVE THE SERVICES OF THEIR LABORATORIES. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: TRAINEES WILL RECEIVE VALUABLE INSTRUCTION AND GUIDANCE ON PERFORMING MEASUREMENTS RELEVANT TO THEIR WORK AND GROW THEIR NETWORK OF COLLEAGUES THAT CAN SUPPORT THEM IN VALIDATING AND IMPROVING THEIR MEASUREMENT SERVICES. THESE ARE KEY OBJECTIVES IN SUPPORTING THE INTERNATIONAL METROLOGY SYSTEM, WHICH IN TURN FEED INTO THE WORK OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT AND LABORATORY ACCREDITATION. INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: THE PROJECT WILL BENEFIT NATIONAL METROLOGY INSTITUTES WHO PROVIDE CRITICAL MEASUREMENT SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS WITHIN THEIR COUNTRIES AND INTERNATIONAL SYSTEMS THAT SUPPORT TRADE. THE EVENT WILL ALSO SUPPORT SISTEMA INTERMERICANO DE METROLOGIA AND IMPROVE THE ORGANIZATIONS ABILITY TO PROMOTE AN INTEGRATED MEASUREMENT INFRASTRUCTURE WITHIN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE.SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: THERE ARE NO SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS APPLICATION.
