About this award
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded Port of Orcas a Project Grant totaling $3.396 million under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) on August 25, 2025, to support comprehensive pavement rehabilitation and resealing projects at Eastsound Airport in Washington. The project encompasses multiple airfield infrastructure improvements including rehabilitation of 14,000 square yards of terminal apron pavement, 2,901 feet of Runway 16/34, and 3,400 feet of Taxiway A with connecting taxiways (A1-A4), along with resealing of 1,650 feet of taxilane pavement, 170 feet of Taxiway B, and 5,320 square yards of the southern terminal apron. These improvements are designed to maintain structural pavement integrity, minimize foreign object debris hazards, and extend the useful life of critical airport infrastructure.
The project period extends through August 24, 2029, and will be performed at Eastsound Airport in Eastsound, Washington. These infrastructure improvements align with the FAA's strategic objectives of safety and operational excellence by ensuring the integrity of essential airport infrastructure serving San Juan County's transportation needs. The award represents typical Airport Improvement Program funding for regional airport infrastructure modernization, which supports the development of a nationwide system of public-use airports adequate to meet civil aeronautics needs.
