About this award

The Port of Anacortes received a $151,230.82 Project Grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) for Phase 2 construction activities at Anacortes Airport. The award, issued on July 15, 2025, with an ultimate completion date of July 14, 2029, funds the installation and reconstruction of critical runway safety and navigational systems. Specifically, the project will acquire and install a new lighted wind cone navigational aid, install Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) systems at both ends of Runway 18/36, and reconstruct existing runway signage that has reached the end of its useful life.

These infrastructure improvements are intended to provide pilots with essential airfield information and bring Anacortes Airport into conformity with current Federal Aviation Administration standards for runway visual guidance and safety systems. The Port of Anacortes, a municipal port authority managing the airport, will serve as the primary beneficiary of the federal funding to support the airport's modernization and operational safety objectives.
