About this award
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $1,170,542.11 to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Authority on September 8, 2025, under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) to fund comprehensive airport infrastructure and security enhancements. The project, which extends through September 7, 2029, encompasses six primary deliverables: installation of two new security cameras in terminal public areas exceeding 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1542 requirements; development of a Safety Management System Manual compliant with 14 CFR Part 139; reconstruction of existing security equipment including cabling, access control systems, and video management infrastructure that has reached end-of-life status; replacement of twelve existing terminal security cameras required by 49 CFR Part 1542; and rehabilitation of 6,800 linear feet each of Runway 3/21 and Taxiway A to address pavement structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris.
These investments in airport safety and operational infrastructure directly support the FAA's strategic objectives of enhancing safety and operational excellence within the national aviation system. The security camera upgrades and equipment reconstruction address regulatory compliance under federal aviation security standards, while the runway and taxiway rehabilitation projects extend pavement service life and reduce safety hazards associated with debris. All project activities are being conducted at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport, a 14 CFR Part 139 certified airport serving the Charlottesville, Virginia region.
