About this award
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the City of Kosciusko a Project Grant totaling $353,684.21 under the Airport Improvement Program, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Programs, and COVID-19 Airports Programs (CFDA 20.106) on July 14, 2025, with a completion deadline of July 13, 2029. This grant funds infrastructure improvements at Kosciusko Municipal Airport in Mississippi, specifically supporting the reconstruction of 200 linear feet of existing hangar access taxilane pavement that has reached the end of its useful life and the extension of the taxilane an additional 35 feet to provide airfield access to a non-exclusive hangar development area. These taxilane improvements will bring the airport into conformity with current standards and facilitate aircraft operations.
Additionally, the grant partially funds the construction of a new 2,500 square foot sponsor-owned aircraft storage hangar designed to enhance the airport's self-sustainability by generating revenue. The hangar construction qualifies for funding under the expanded eligibility provisions of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The grant represents a portion of the total project cost, with the remaining eligible expenses funded through a companion Airport Improvement Program grant award. This integrated funding approach demonstrates the city's strategic use of federal resources to modernize airport infrastructure and support civil aeronautics operations in the region.
