About this award

The City of Warroad received a $197,000 Project Grant on September 2, 2025, from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106), which encompasses Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Programs and COVID-19 Airports Programs. This Phase 1 design funding supports infrastructure improvements at Warroad Regional Airport in Minnesota, including planning and design services for multiple airport facility upgrades. The scope encompasses design work for reconstructing the terminal parking lot (22,000 square feet), terminal access road (600 feet), and taxiway systems; constructing new taxiway connectors (A2 and A4, 500 feet each); and replacing the airport windcone. Additionally, the project includes design for shifting existing taxiways to achieve conformity with current Federal Aviation Administration standards.

The grant award reflects the FAA's strategic investment in modernizing airport infrastructure at non-primary facilities to support safe and efficient civil aeronautics operations. With an ultimate completion date of September 1, 2029, the project will provide the necessary design documentation and planning deliverables to support subsequent construction phases that address aging infrastructure and safety compliance requirements at the Warroad airport facility.
