About this award

The City of Palmer received a $5.52 million Project Grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) on September 18, 2025, with a completion date of September 17, 2029. This award funds comprehensive airport infrastructure improvements at Palmer Airport facilities, including the installation of new navigational aids (wind cone and airport rotating beacon), reconstruction of runway visual guidance systems (Runway End Identifier Lights and Precision Approach Path Indicator systems) for Runway 16/34, rehabilitation of existing lighting systems for Runways 10/28 and 16/34, resurfacing of runway pavement markings, and modernization of the airport lighting vault equipment. Additionally, the grant supports rehabilitation of taxiway lighting systems across Taxiways A through G to enhance safe airfield operations during low-visibility conditions.
