Description

The eastern monarch butterfly population has plummeted by more than 80% to 90% since the 1990S with a 95% population decline of their western populations. Similarly, loss of habitat is having a negative impact on the populations of migratory birds and bats. These plummeting populations have both adverse ecological and economic impacts in the united states. To address and promote actions to reverse these downward trends, this project proposes to strengthen the technical, communications and conservation capacities of communities to recognize, support, and maintain habitat for migratory species: monarchs, birds, and bats, specifically through training workshops, development a communications strategy, citizen science monitoring programs, and habitat restoration activities.
