Description

The goal of the project is to strengthen the conservation of migratory bird species shared between colombia and the united states through the implementation of a participatory monitoring, citizen science, and knowledge-sharing program in priority sites across the pacific coast in colombia, ecuador, peru, and panama and colombia's western andes, contributing to the conservation of these species throughout their full annual cycle. Specific objectives include: 1. Generate information on the occurrence, abundance, distribution, and habitat use of migratory birds in priority sites along the pacific coast and the western andes; 2. Strengthen the capacities of local communities, educators, students, and bird-monitoring groups to participate in long term monitoring and citizen science initiatives; 3. Promote public engagement and awareness of migratory birds and their ecological importance through educational and cultural strategies; and 4. Facilitate the use of project-generated information to strengthen local and regional conservation efforts for migratory birds and their habitats.
