THE STATE OF DELAWARE WILL USE FUNDING TO FOCUS ON ADDRESSING CRITICAL PREPAREDNESS NEEDS AND HAZARD MITIGATION. CRITICAL PREPAREDNESS INCLUDES FIREFIGHTER SAFETY, FIREFIGHTER TRAINING, INCREASED INITIAL ATTACK CAPABILITIES, AND MOBILIZATION READINESS FOR THE EFFICIENT SUPPRESSION AND PREVENTION OF WILDFIRES ACROSS THE STATE. TRAINING INITIATIVES INCLUDE CHAINSAW, LEADERSHIP, ANNUAL BASIC FIREFIGHTING PROGRAMS. FIRE PREVENTION AND WILDFIRE AWARENESS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS WILL BE DELIVERED. THE WILDLAND FIRE PROGRAM WILL BE SUPPORTED WITH UPGRADES TO SAFETY GEAR, SUPPLIES AND TOOLS AS WELL AS MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF FIREFIGHTING VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO SUPPORT THE DELAWARE PRESCRIBED FIRE COUNCIL IN SUPPORTING AND PROMOTING THE USE OF PRESCRIBED FIRE TO REDUCE HAZARDOUS FUEL BUILDUPS ACROSS THE STATE. THIS IS A MULTI YEAR PROJECT WHICH WILL ALLOW DELAWARE TO PURCHASE FIREFIGHTING SUPPLIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE PURCHASE GUIDELINES AND ALLOWS THEM TO BE PLACED IN SERVICE. TRAINING, HAZARD REDUCTION AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS CAN BE PLANNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PREVIOUS SESSIONS AND DEVELOP A SOUND PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
