The Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service awarded Naca-Inspired Schools Network five hundred thousand dollars on May 1, 2026, under the Farm to School Grant Program (CFDA 10.575) to support local food procurement for school meals, school garden development, and agricultural education integration in Albuquerque schools with high free and reduced-price meal enrollment. The award runs through June 30, 2028, with place of performance in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Naca-Inspired Schools Network is a Native American-owned, minority-owned nonprofit organization. The Farm to School program provides grants and technical assistance to eligible entities, including schools, school districts, local agencies, Indian tribal organizations, and nonprofits, to implement or scale farm-to-school initiatives that improve access to local foods in child nutrition programs. Implementation grants, the category under which this award was made, support schools and nonprofits in developing existing farm-to-school efforts. Selection criteria include degree of service to schools with high free and reduced-price meal enrollment, project readiness and likelihood of success, alignment with program goals, project design and management capacity, sustainability and transferability, and budget appropriateness.
