Description

Abstract
This grant will support travel for 20 students from US educational institutions to attend the 6TH ifac workshop on cyber-physical human systems (cphs 2026), held in redondo beach, california, 11-12 december 2026. This award will ensure that talented students are able to participate, creating opportunities to share their work, receive feedback, and build professional networks. Travel support will be awarded through a competitive process. Students will engage with leading researchers from universities and industry while gaining exposure to innovative ideas on how to make intelligent machines seamlessly partner with humans in applications important to society such as in healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, public infrastructure, and other areas that directly affect society. Cphs 2026 brings together an interdisciplinary community advancing the science and engineering of cyber-physical human systems, where humans, intelligent machines, and computational systems interact through sensing, communication, learning, estimation, control, and decision-making. The workshop aligns closely with research priorities in human-centered autonomy and embodied intelligence by fostering collaboration across engineering, computer science, ergonomics, assistive technology, medical technology, interactive design, and others. These travel awards will increase participation by US students while strengthening connections between academia and industry. Through technical presentations, mentoring, and professional networking, participants will gain interdisciplinary perspectives that accelerate research innovation and workforce development. By supporting the next generation of researchers in this rapidly evolving field, the project will expand the cphs community, encourage new collaborations, and promote technologies that improve the safety, effectiveness, and societal impact of human-centered cyber-physical systems.
