THIS FUNDING WILL BE FOR THE PROJECT OF CREATING A COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN FOR MONROE COUNTY, INDIANA. THIS PROJECT WILL GIVE THE PEOPLE OF MONROE COUNTY THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE THEIR OWN COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN AND INCORPORATE SMART PROJECTS THAT WILL ENHANCE AND CREATE AREAS THAT ARE MORE FIRE RESISTANT. THIS PLAN WILL HELP RESTORE AND MAINTAIN LANDSCAPES, CREATE FIRE ADAPTED COMMUNITIES, AND HELP IMPROVE WILDFIRE RESPONSE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE COUNTY. THE COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN WILL CONSIST OF PROJECTS OF PRESCRIBED BURNING, MECHANICAL FUEL REDUCTION, AND FIRE CONTROL LINE CREATION THAT WILL HOPEFULLY BE FUNDED IN THE FUTURE BY THIS SAME GRANT. THEY ARE PRIORITIZING ON AREAS THAT ARE IN THE CLASSIFIED FOREST PROGRAM THAT ARE WITHIN 1 MILE OF STATE-OWNED PROPERTY.
