- This Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation Division of Mathematical Sciences, under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049), will provide $157,855 to the Rector & Visitors Of The University Of Virginia (University of Virginia) to investigate open questions in the field of arithmetic quantum chaos. The key activities include studying the interplay between quantum mechanics and classical mechanics, as well as the distribution of prime numbers, through...
- This federal Project Grant award, provided by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Mathematical and Physical Sciences Program (CFDA 47.049), will support the 2025, 2026, and 2027 editions of the KYLEREC Graduate Student Workshop in Symplectic and Contact Geometry. The $130,483 award to Stanford University will fund an intensive week-long workshop that aims to introduce aspiring mathematicians to vibrant areas of research in symplectic and contact geometry, fostering collaboration and future...
- The National Science Foundation awarded $376,018 under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) to Carnegie Mellon University for the project "Stability and Regularity: From Analysis to Geometry" from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025. The project focuses on using functional and geometric inequalities to explore the geometry of manifolds and domains. Such inequalities describe ground states for physical systems in acoustics and materials science. Researchers will...
- This $335,000 project grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Mathematical and Physical Sciences (CFDA 47.049) program supports fundamental research in harmonic analysis and approximation theory conducted by the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The key objectives are to: (1) Investigate the regularity properties and boundedness of certain averaging operators over sub-manifolds and maximal operators on nilpotent groups within harmonic analysis. (2) Study local smoothing...
- This Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Division of Mathematical Sciences provides $385,387 to Texas A&M University-Commerce to operate the REU Site: Theoretical and Application-Driven Mathematics program through February 2026. The program recruits 12 undergraduate students annually for an eight-week summer research experience in innovative, application-driven mathematical research projects. Working under faculty mentors, students investigate both theoretical and applied...
- This $152,308 Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) will support Professor Thomas Sommerfeld and his team at Southeastern Louisiana University in modeling temporary molecular anions. The research aims to develop reliable, cost-efficient computational methods to simulate the quantum mechanics of these short-lived negatively charged molecular ions, which play critical roles in numerous natural and technological...
CONFERENCE: SOUTHEASTERN ANALYSIS MEETING -THE SOUTHEASTERN ANALYSIS MEETING (SEAM) IS A CONFERENCE TO BE HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND (RICHMOND, VIRGINIA) ON THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 13 - 15, 2026. THE SEAM HAS BEEN HELD ANNUALLY AT A UNIVERSITY IN THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES SINCE 1985. IT HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AS A LEADING NATIONAL VENUE FOR MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS, WITH A MISSION OF FACILITATING INTERACTION AND COLLABORATION BETWEEN RESEARCHERS AT ALL CAREER STAGES. IT ENCOURAGES RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN THE FIELD OF ANALYSIS. THE PROGRAM OF SEAM INCLUDES PLENARY TALKS BY SIX SELECTED PARTICIPANTS AND 20-MINUTE CONTRIBUTED TALKS OPEN TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AS WELL AS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PROBLEM SESSIONS FOR EARLY CAREER RESEARCHERS. THIS FORMAT FOSTERS COLLEGIALITY AND A VIBRANT ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS, NETWORKING, AND THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF COLLABORATIONS. HISTORICALLY, THE TOPICS OF THE MAIN LECTURES HAVE REFLECTED THE MAJOR CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS IN ANALYSIS, EMPHASIZING THE MEETING?S TRADITIONAL THEMES. THIS SEAM WILL FEATURE SIX PLENARY TALKS ON SUBJECTS SUCH AS GEOMETRIC FUNCTION THEORY, HARMONIC ANALYSIS, PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS, AND THE ANALYSIS OF THE SCHR?DINGER EQUATION, CONVEX GEOMETRY AND OPTIMAL CONTROL, OPERATOR THEORY AND OPERATOR ALGEBRAS, AND MULTI-DIMENSIONAL COMPLEX ANALYSIS. THE WEBSITE OF THE CONFERENCE IS HTTPS://SITES.GOOGLE.COM/VIEW/SEAM42/HOME . THIS AWARD REFLECTS NSF'S STATUTORY MISSION AND HAS BEEN DEEMED WORTHY OF SUPPORT THROUGH EVALUATION USING THE FOUNDATION'S INTELLECTUAL MERIT AND BROADER IMPACTS REVIEW CRITERIA.- SUBAWARDS ARE NOT PLANNED FOR THIS AWARD.
