The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the Washoe Housing Authority a $5,000,000 Project Grant under the Indian Housing Block Grants (IHBG) program (CFDA 14.867) on January 15, 2025. The funding will support the Washoe Housing Authority's affordable housing activities for Native American communities in Gardnerville, Nevada over a project period through December 30, 2027. Eligible activities under the IHBG program include new housing construction, rehabilitation of existing units, housing acquisition, infrastructure improvements, and other housing-related community development initiatives primarily benefiting low-income Native American families. The Washoe Housing Authority has received multiple prior grants from HUD's IHBG and Indian Community Development Block Grant programs to fund similar affordable housing projects for tribal communities in the region.
