This $300,000 Project Grant awarded by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) under the Citizenship Education and Training program (CFDA 97.010) will support the Literacy Center of West Michigan in providing citizenship instruction and naturalization services for underserved counties in West Michigan. The two-year grant, awarded in November 2024, will enable the non-profit organization to deliver comprehensive citizenship preparation services, including citizenship education, English language classes, civics training, and naturalization application assistance, to help lawful permanent residents in the region gain the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully navigate the naturalization process and integrate into American society. The Literacy Center of West Michigan has a history of providing critical educational and support services to underserved populations in West Michigan, with a focus on immigrant communities, adult learners, and low-income households.
