This SBIR Phase I award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (CFDA 47.084) program provides $275,000 to Delaqua Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to develop a polymeric micelle platform for enhancing the solubility and stability of hydrophobic drug compounds. The key objectives are to: 1) improve the formulation of the polymeric micelle system for better drug solubilization, 2) conduct initial toxicity studies to establish the safety of the platform, and 3) demonstrate the efficacy of the micelles in solubilizing different drug classes. This work aims to create a scalable, well-characterized product that can improve the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients, supporting the clinical development and commercialization of much-needed treatments across various indications including cardiovascular, cancer, infectious diseases, and neurological conditions. The project period runs from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025.
