The National Science Foundation's (NSF) STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) awarded a $500,000 project grant to California Baptist University (CBU) on May 15, 2024. The "3 PASOS (3 STEPS) PROGRAM" aims to improve recruitment and retention of underrepresented students in STEM fields at CBU through research opportunities, mentorship, and hands-on learning. The program seeks to strengthen STEM education and broaden participation by supporting students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college students and those with socioeconomic challenges or gaps in high school preparation. Key program elements include summer research experiences, teaching seminars, mobility programs, and workshops that will prepare students for success in STEM undergraduate programs, careers, and graduate education. This grant-funded project aligns with NSF's mission to enhance undergraduate STEM education and build capacity at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).
