This National Science Foundation (NSF) Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program (CFDA 47.076 - STEM Education) award of $939,280 to Minnesota State Colleges & Universities - Bemidji State University (Bemidji, MN) aims to prepare and support at least 16 highly qualified STEM teachers to work in high-need rural school districts in northern Minnesota. The project will recruit diverse undergraduate STEM majors, enhance their knowledge and skills in social-emotional learning, adverse childhood experiences, culturally responsive pedagogy, and resiliency, and provide ongoing mentorship and peer learning communities to support new teachers during their first two years in the workforce. This project seeks to increase the pool of qualified STEM teacher applicants for open positions in the region's rural school districts and promote greater diversity among STEM teachers. The award period is October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2029.
