The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $781,741 Project Grant under the Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050) to the Sea Education Association Inc. (SEA), a non-profit organization in Falmouth, Massachusetts. The 3-year grant, titled "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: GP-IN: ACCELERATING CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE CAREERS THROUGH A POSTBACCALAUREATE FELLOWSHIP IN WOODS HOLE (ACES WOODS HOLE)", aims to recruit, train, prepare, and retain post-baccalaureate fellows from underrepresented backgrounds in geosciences and prepare them for graduate school and/or careers. The project will create a scalable, collaborative learning ecosystem to contribute to diversifying the geosciences workforce, including a robust mentoring network, meaningful community engagement, professional development activities, and an immersive research experience. This grant builds on the success of the Woods Hole Partnership Education Program and represents a novel approach to addressing the lack of post-baccalaureate programs in the geosciences.
