THE KOREAN COMMUNITY SERVICES OF METROPOLITAN NEW YORK, INC. PROPOSES TO HAVE 64 AMERICORPS SENIORS VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL ASSIST THE COMMUNITY IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS AGING IN PLACE. AT THE END OF THE TWO-YEAR GRANT, AMERICORPS SENIORS VOLUNTEERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HELPING INCREASE SOCIAL SUPPORT, IMPROVE CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS, IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH THROUGH CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR, AND ACHIEVING QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE SUCCESS IN IMPROVING ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE. THE AMERICORPS PERMANENT BASELINE FUNDING/CNCS SHARE OF $511,165.00 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY A 10% KCS MATCH IN NON-FEDERAL FUNDS. 5%, OR $25,558.25 WILL BE LOCAL FUNDING (FUNDRAISING), AND OTHERS, AND THE REMAINING 5%, OR $25,558.25 WILL BE THROUGH IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS.
