THE OHIO ASSOCIATION OF FOODBANKS PROPOSES TO HAVE 36 AMERICORPS SENIORS VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL SUPPORT IMPROVED ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD IN CHAMPAIGN, CLARK, CRAWFORD, ERIE, HAMILTON, HURON, LOGAN, AND LORAIN COUNTIES. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. AT THE END OF THE TWO-YEAR GRANT, AMERICORPS SENIORS VOLUNTEERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPROVING FOOD SECURITY FOR THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND INDIVIDUALS WITH CHRONIC DIET-RELATED DISEASES BY INCREASING ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD AND SUPPORTING THOUSANDS OF LOW-INCOME SENIORS WITH AGING IN PLACE THROUGH PROMOTING CONSISTENT ACCESS TO WHOLESOME FOOD.
