AN ESTIMATED 110 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE. OF THIS NUMBER, 100 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE EDUCATION, HEALTHY FUTURES, CAPACITY BUILDING AND OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS CAPACITY BUILDING. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT, WE ANTICIPATE THAT AN ESTIMATED 28-30% OF UNDUPLICATED VOLUNTEERS (28-30 VOLUNTEERS) WILL SERVE IN THIS PRIMARY FOCUS AREA. ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE WORKING WITH DURHAM COUNTY ORGANIZATIONS TO STRENGTHEN THEIR EFFICIENCY, EFFECTIVENESS, PROGRAM REACH AND COMMUNITY IMPACT. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE FOCUS ON HEALTHY FUTURES IN WHICH 18-20 VOLUNTEERS WILL ASSIST WITH FOOD DELIVERY AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO ELDERLY AND HOME-BOUND RESIDENTS AS WELL AS ASSISTANCE TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES TO HELP ADDRESS ISSUES OF SOCIAL ISOLATION. THROUGH THE EDUCATION FOCUS AREA, 10 VOLUNTEERS WILL TUTOR ELEMENTARY (INCLUDING PRE-K) AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN STEAM COURSES. 46 VOLUNTEERS WILL ALSO BE MOBILIZED TO ADDRESS OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES SERVING WITH AREA NONPROFITS, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS AND PROPRIETY ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS LOCAL HOSPITALS. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT, THE ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES INCLUDE: CAPACITY BUILDING. 60 ORGANIZATIONS WILL RECEIVE ASSISTANCE THROUGH SERVICES THAT INCREASE THEIR PROGRAM IMPACT. THIS WILL ALSO INCLUDE RECRUITMENT AND PLACEMENT OF 100 ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS AT THESE ORGANIZATIONS. HEALTHY FUTURES. 100 ELDERLY, DISABLED, OR HOMEBOUND RESIDENTS WILL RECEIVE MEALS FROM MEALS ON WHEELS AS WELL AS INFORMATION/EDUCATION ON IMPORTANT HEALTH ISSUES. EDUCATION. 50 STUDENTS (PRE-K-8TH GRADE) WILL RECEIVE TUTORING SERVICES IN STEAM COURSES AND WILL DEMONSTRATE IMPROVEMENTS IN INCREASED ATTENDANCE OR CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE OR IMPROVED ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES. 500 PEOPLE WILL BE SERVED THROUGH OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES SUCH AS DISCOVER DURHAM, DURHAM SOCIAL SERVICES, DURHAM'S PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN, MIRACLE LEAGUE, DURHAM ARTS COUNCIL, ETC. THE CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $ 83,791 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $ 9,311 OF NON-FEDERAL RESOURCES. THE TRIANGLE NONPROFIT & VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP CENTER (FORMERLY THE VOLUNTEER CENTER OF DURHAM) WAS FORMED IN 1971. THE CENTER'S MISSION IS TO STRENGTHEN NONPROFITS AND MOBILIZE VOLUNTEERS TO CREATE A VIBRANT AND ENGAGED COMMUNITY. TNVLC PARTNERS WITH MORE THAN 1,200 NONPROFITS AND OPERATES THE LARGEST VOLUNTEER DATABASE IN DURHAM.
