Description

Since 1974, volunteer new york! Has been the sole sponsor of rsvp of westchester. Rsvp of westchester will connect 850 older adults with volunteer opportunities that address pressing community needs. Of the 850 volunteers, 744 will be placed in outcome assignments. Some of their activities will include tutoring and mentoring, companionship, providing transportation, job training, and food support. The primary focus area of this grant is education. At the end of the three-year grant, 1,060 of children will improve their academic engagement or social-emotional skills through tutoring and mentoring, at least 280 will enroll in post-secondary education, and 400 will earn a post-secondary degree through the support of 326 dedicated volunteers. The secondary focus is healthy futures to support the growing population of older adults, many of who age in place in their communities. And rsvp volunteers will improve their own lives as they stay active and engaged, and feel useful and valued. Our efforts to support the westchester community include examining practices to remove structural racial inequities, advance equality, and increase opportunities in communities that face longstanding barriers and challenges. The cncs federal investment of $114,234 will be supplemented by $75,230 in matching funds, $63,863 via a grant from the westchester county department of senior programs & services; $6367 from the new york state office for the aging; and $5000 from a grant from the TD charitable foundation.
