Description

Of this number, 80 rsvp volunteers will be placed in outcome assignments. Some of their activities will include nutrition/food support, transportation, and companionship to area residents who are age 65 and older and/or disabled. The primary focus area of this project is healthy futures ? Aging in place, and 80 rsvp volunteers will be placed in these outcome assignments. In addition, 20 rsvp volunteers will be placed within other community priorities, including wellness and support services for this target population. At the end of the three-year grant, icgmc anticipates that IT will serve at least 80 individuals each year, who are aged 60+ and/or who have disabilities , who will benefit from independent living services that will help them to age within their home or the community. Further they will report having increased social ties or perceived social support. In addition, 20 seniors will be served through other community priorities, for a total impact on 100 elderly or disabled residents. The cncs federal investment of $75,000 will be supplemented by $35,000 in non-federal share matching funds, and an additional $37,410 in additional or excess funding, for a total annual budget of $147,410. Icgmc, in operation since 1994, has a mission to promote the independence, dignity and wellness of homebound elderly and people with disabilities by matching them with caring volunteers who assist with the tasks of everyday life. Volunteers are professionally screened and trained, and all services are provided without proselytization or regard to religious affiliation. In 2015 the agency added the rsvp program, allowing the organization to significantly increase recruiting and service activities, and improve volunteer recognition and retention. At the end of the past 2019/2020 grant year, the agency had a total of 186 rsvp volunteers who served, and despite covid-19 pandemic limits, an average of 95-100 rsvp volunteers remained active each month of the crisis. Although IT is expected that much of the covid-19 pandemic will be resolved by the beginning of this 2021 grant period, rebuild and expansion activities will blend virtual and in-person tools to ensure that our elderly and adults with disabilities benefit from the full range of these essential caregiving and wellness services.
